One of my favorites: Don\u2019t break the chain. Buy a giant calendar, then set out to complete the same challenge every day. Cross off each day you complete the activity, and soon there\u2019s no going back&#8230; otherwise you will break the chain.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>\u201cShow &amp; Tell\u201d by Dan Roam<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This book has some really nice, illustrative frameworks for how to get better at storytelling. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3>\u201cGive &amp; Take\u201d by Adam Grant<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I stumbled on this book by accident when I was researching the art of collaboration. Wow. It\u2019s not about collaboration, but I\u2019ve been recommending it to everyone since. Read it.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>\u201cGroup Genius: The Power of Collaboration\u201d by Keith Sawyer<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Name any great artist, writer, inventor, or scientist, and you will discover that they <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">were not<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a lone\u00a0genius. Some of the most famous people from history would have remained unknown if it had not been for collaborating with others on their break-through projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>\u201cGreat Leads: The Six Easiest Ways to Start Any Sales Message\u201d by Michael Masterson &amp; John Forde<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ideas in this book are so common sense and yet so brilliant.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>\u201cManaging Enterprise Content\u201d by Ann Rockley &amp; Charles Cooper<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I recommend this book to anyone who is about to buy an enterprise-level content management system or who thinks a web CMS is the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">only<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> type of CMS.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>\u201cMeasuring the User Experience\u201d by Thomas Tullis &amp; William Albert<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you like both user research AND numbers, this book is for you. Or, if you&#8217;re teaching a UX measurement class, this makes a perfect textbook.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>\u201cBuilt to Last: Successful Habits of Visionary Companies\u201d by Jim Collins &amp; Jerry I. Porras<\/h3>\n<p>Also read &#8220;Good to Great.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>\u201cSexy Little Numbers: How to Grow Your Business Using Data You Already Have\u201d by Dimitri Maex\u00a0&amp;\u00a0Paul B. Brown<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is one of my favorite books about big data because it was one of the few I could understand\u2014Ha. Their gold nugget, jackpot, and acorn metaphors makes this book worth reading.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>\u201cThe Tipping Point\u201d by Malcom Gladwell<\/h3>\n<p>All of Gladwell&#8217;s books are lined up on my bookcase. I love this one because it perfectly illustrates how to turn data into captivating stories.<\/p>\n<h3>\u201cContent Rules\u201d by Ann Handley &amp; CC Chapman<\/h3>\n<p>Every best practice for every content format.<\/p>\n<h3>\u201c1oo Things Every Designer Needs to Know About People\u201d by Susan M. Weinschenk<\/h3>\n<p>Psychology concepts written by a UX designer.<\/p>\n<h3>\u201cNow, Discover Your Strengths\u201d by Marcus Buckingham &amp; Donald Clifton<\/h3>\n<p>This is a book you need to own, not borrow \u2014 as there is a one-time use code inside you can use to discover <em>your<\/em> strengths. Also, purchase this version, not &#8220;StrengthsFinder 2.0.&#8221; This one is much better.<\/p>\n<h3>\u201cOn Writing Well\u201d by William Zinsser<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the intimidating parts about writing a blog is the fear of not being original. But then William reminded me: \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was my book about baseball and my book about jazz. Other writers would write their book.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>VIDEOS<\/h2>\n<h3>\u201cThe 4 Ways Sound Affects Us\u201d TedTalk by Julian Treasure<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UX isn\u2019t just what we can see. It\u2019s what we cannot see and all the spaces in-between. Watch Julian\u2019s TedTalk if you need more convincing. You won&#8217;t walk into any public space without taking note of\u00a0the\u00a0sounds again.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>\u201cChoice, Happiness, and Spaghetti Sauce\u201d by Malcom Gladwell<\/h3>\n<p>I believe this was the very first TedTalk I ever watched. Still one of the best.<\/p>\n<h3>\u201cIs Design Metrically Opposed?\u201d by Jared Spool<\/h3>\n<p>If you think bounce rates and website visits are dumb KPIs, you will really like this video. Jared explains why you are 100% right.<\/p>\n<h2>PODCASTS<\/h2>\n<h3>\u201cI &#x2665; CX\u201d &#8211; Forrester Research<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This podcast is all about experiences that include and go beyond digital. How an experience feels, sounds, and looks \u2014 whether on a computer screen (digital) or boarding process onto a plane (real-life) \u2014 is all UX. Er, CX.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>\u201cOnline Marketing Made Easy\u201d &#8211; Amy Porterfield<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I avoided this podcast for a very long time because the name of it was so ridiculous. I finally relented, and OMG. So much practical, how to information about Facebook marketing, email list building, running webinars, and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>\u201c99% Invisible\u201d &#8211; Roman Mars<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is an incredible example of exceptional storytelling.
